How Local Businesses and Attractions can Help you Fill your Serviced Accommodation

If you own a property that’s been converted into a serviced accommodation, you know that getting it consistently occupied can often be a challenge.

Through starting my company Flyt Properties, I’ve learned a lot over the years about the best way to get guests, and we’ve seen that one of the best ways to attract people to your accommodation is by advertising and partnering with local attractions and businesses.

Flyt Properties mainly operates in the Glasgow area as well as the rest of the central belt of Scotland, and thankfully for us there are plenty of exciting businesses and attractions in that area that we’ve been able to take advantage of to attract guests.

Here are some tips on how to use local attractions and businesses to help bring people to your serviced accommodation.

Advertising Others can Advertise You

Whether you’re greeting your guests in person or through emails or brochures, giving them a breakdown of interesting things they can visit nearby is always a great personal touch that makes them feel valued and gives them a positive impression of your customer service. This kind of extra effort is what helps your property stand out in areas with a lot of competition for serviced accommodation.

However, did you know that advertising other businesses like this can also indirectly advertise yours? By mentioning the names of local attractions on booking websites and other online pages, search engines like Google will make it more likely for people to see your serviced accommodation when they’re searching for those attractions themselves.

For example, many of the properties we have on Flyt Stays are based in Glasgow. When we advertise these properties online, we often mention popular tourist spots nearby such as Kelvingrove Art Gallery or Pollok Country Park, so that people who are searching for accommodation near one of those attractions will be shown one of our properties.

Reach Out to Businesses

Reaching out to local businesses directly can also be valuable. Before you start reaching out, however, it’s important to do your research and identify which ones are a good fit for your property. Consider the type of guests you are targeting and the types of businesses that they would be interested in: for example, if your property is very trendy and well-decorated, an art gallery could be a good fit.

Once you have identified businesses that you would like to partner with, reach out to them and introduce yourself. Explain your business and why you think it would be a good fit for them.

When you are reaching out to businesses, be sure to offer them something in return. This could be a commission on bookings, free advertising, or even just the opportunity to cross-promote each other's businesses. This could even eventually lead to joint promotions involving discounts to guests who visit both businesses, or it could involve hosting joint events.

If you want to make sure your serviced accommodation takes advantage of the potential marketing that comes from local businesses like this, partnering with Flyt could be the answer.

We advertise our properties on many different platforms and speak highly of local businesses on each one, increasing the chances of the properties ranking well for SEO. We also speak in detail about nearby things to do inside our personalised brochures, which we include for guests at each individual property we manage.
